What changed: These Terms now cover the UniUze Marketplace (buying, selling and renting items between students) in addition to carpooling. Section 7 is new. Sections 2 and 4 have been updated, because the previous wording prohibited commercial activity and predated the marketplace.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using UniUze, you agree to follow all Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Community Guidelines, and our Safety Rules. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the application.
2. What UniUze Is — and Is Not
UniUze is a discovery and connection platform for verified college students. It provides two services: carpooling, which helps students find each other for shared rides, and the marketplace, which helps students list and discover items to buy, sell or rent within their own college.
In both services, UniUze does NOT:
Provide transportation, vehicles or drivers
Sell, own, supply, store, inspect, test or deliver any item listed on the marketplace
Process, hold, escrow or guarantee any payment between users
Verify vehicle condition or legality
Verify that an item exists, works, is authentic, is safe, or is owned by the person listing it
Act as an agent, broker or party to any agreement between users
Conduct background checks on users beyond college email verification
The platform operates as a connection service only. Every ride and every transaction is arranged directly between students, at their own risk.
3. Eligibility & Your Account
You must be an enrolled college student in India with a valid college email address
You must be 18 years of age or older
You must provide accurate information and must not impersonate anyone else
You are responsible for activity that takes place under your account
You must not share your account, or use another person's account
You must not attempt to circumvent college email verification
4. General User Responsibilities
As a user of UniUze, you agree to:
Provide accurate information in your profile, your ride listings and your item listings
Use the app only for genuine peer-to-peer carpooling and genuine peer-to-peer buying, selling and renting between students
Refrain from harassment, abuse, threats or discriminatory behaviour
Not use the platform for any unlawful purpose
Not operate a commercial resale, dropshipping or retail business through the marketplace, and not post bulk, automated or repetitive listings
Not spam, advertise external services, or solicit other users off-platform for unrelated purposes
Comply with your own college's rules and policies
5. Chat Provisions
Chats — including ride group chats and buyer–seller conversations — are stored and are not end-to-end encrypted
Abusive, threatening, or inappropriate messages are strictly prohibited
Violations will result in suspension or permanent banning from the platform
6. Carpooling
Users assume full responsibility for the accuracy of their ride listings
Participants join rides voluntarily and at their own risk
Ride creators must hold a valid licence, must comply with all local traffic laws, and are responsible for the roadworthiness, insurance and legality of their vehicle
Any cost-sharing for fuel or tolls is arranged directly between participants; UniUze is not involved in it
7. Marketplace
This section applies whenever you list, browse, buy or rent an item on UniUze.
7.1 Listing an Item
You may only list items that you legally own and have the right to sell or rent
Your listing must be accurate and honest. Describe the true condition of the item and disclose any faults, damage or missing parts
Photos must be of the actual item you are listing. Do not use stock photos, or photos of a different or better item
Prices must be genuine. Do not advertise a price you do not intend to honour
Your listing is visible to verified students at your own college only
You must not list anything set out in section 7.2
You are responsible for complying with any tax or legal obligations arising from your sales
7.2 Prohibited Listings
Certain items may never be listed on UniUze, including weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, prescription medication, counterfeit goods, stolen goods, academic dishonesty services, adult material and live animals. The full list is set out in our Community Guidelines and forms part of these Terms.
We may remove any listing, at our discretion and without notice, if we believe it breaches these Terms or our Community Guidelines.
7.3 Buying, Requests and Meetups
Sending a request expresses interest in meeting to complete a deal. Accepting a request is a commitment to meet at the agreed spot and time, but is not a legally binding contract of sale created by UniUze
Both parties should turn up as arranged, or cancel promptly if plans change
Inspect the item carefully before you hand over any money. Once you have completed a deal in person, it is between you and the other student
Meet only in public, well-lit places on or near campus
Marking a deal as complete is a record of the meeting having taken place. It is not a receipt, and UniUze does not verify that anything was actually exchanged
7.4 Payments
UniUze does not currently process, hold, escrow, or guarantee any payment between users. All payments for items are arranged and settled directly between buyer and seller, off-platform.
UniUze is not a party to any sale or rental agreement between users, is not the seller of any item, and does not take title to, inspect, or guarantee any item listed.
Because we are not involved in payment, we cannot reverse a transaction, recover your money, issue a refund, or resolve a payment dispute. Never pay in advance for an item you have not seen.
7.5 Rentals
Rental terms — the period, the price, any security deposit, and the condition the item must be returned in — are agreed directly between the two students. UniUze is not a party to that agreement and holds no deposit
The renter is responsible for returning the item on time and in the agreed condition
Disputes about damage, late return, or non-return are between the two students. We can review the in-app record if you report a problem, but we cannot compel return or compensation
7.6 Ratings and Reviews
Ratings and reviews must be honest, based on a genuine completed deal, and free of abuse or personal attacks
You must not manipulate ratings — for example by arranging fake deals, trading positive reviews, or pressuring another student to change a rating
Ratings you give and receive are generally permanent. We may remove a rating that breaches these Terms
7.7 Your Listing Content
You keep ownership of the photos and text you upload. By posting a listing, you grant UniUze a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, resize and display that content for the purpose of operating the app — including showing it in search results and in shared listing links. This licence ends when the content is removed from our systems, subject to the retention practices described in our Privacy Policy.
You confirm that you have the right to upload the content, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.
8. Reporting, Blocking and Moderation
You can report a listing or a user in the app, and you can block another user to prevent contact and requests in either direction
We review reports and may remove content, restrict features, or suspend accounts as a result
We may act on repeated reports about the same listing or user
Submitting deliberately false reports is itself a violation of these Terms
9. Account Suspension
Your account may be suspended or terminated for:
Misuse of the platform
Using a fake identity
Harassment of other users
Violation of safety rules
Attempts to circumvent verification
Listing prohibited, counterfeit, stolen or misrepresented items
Scamming, defrauding or repeatedly failing to honour agreed deals
Manipulating ratings or reviews
10. Limitation of Liability
UniUze is NOT responsible for:
Accidents during or after rides
Conflicts or disputes between users
Harassment outside the app
Users' behavior once they meet offline
Loss of belongings
Criminal acts by users
The condition, quality, safety, authenticity, legality or ownership of any item listed
Any item that is not as described, faulty, counterfeit, stolen or never delivered
Money lost in any transaction, including advance payments, deposits and scams
Items damaged, returned late, or never returned in a rental arrangement
Anything that happens at an in-person meetup
The platform is provided "as-is" without warranty of any kind.
11. Disclaimer
UniUze is a peer-to-peer discovery platform only.
We do not:
Operate vehicles
Employ or verify drivers
Guarantee ride safety
Conduct background checks
Sell, stock, handle or ship any item
Inspect or authenticate any item
Guarantee that any student will honour a deal
All travel, all transactions and all in-person meetings are at your own risk. The platform bears no liability for accidents, loss, injury, financial loss, or user disputes.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Karnataka, India.
13. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the app after changes indicates acceptance of the modified terms.
